Crystal River #42

Summer break is great for taking trips with the family. Since Florida is so big, many of the rivers we have left to explore are well over the 2 hour distance we prefer to keep it to during school months. So, off we went to the Crystal River at the end of June 2022. Still part of the same waterway system we have been exploring with the Homosassa and Chassahowitzka Rivers, the Crystal River offered something different for sure.

The Crystal Isles RV Park is where we stayed and though many folks lived here permanently or clearly came regularly, there were plenty of people like us here for a long weekend and excited to explore. Not only did the park have it's own boat ramp, it also had its own playground, active pool and clubhouse. Plus, it's only a 10 minute drive into town for groceries, ice, restaurants, etc.

Exploring the Crystal River was exceptional with clear water the entire route almost. It made it easy for us to take advantage of pulling over and jumping out to swim. Without a doubt, our dog Seger enjoyed how often he got to swim and run full speed on the various islands. For that reason, of the three rivers in this region, we feel the Crystal River gave us more bang for our mission with a dog.

Here's our podcast and pictures to share more about the entire four day experience: PODCAST
